The funds are to be shared equally among all codes.

JP McMANUS IS to give every GAA county board in Ireland €1 million to be shared equally among all codes.

The Limerick-born billionaire, who is tax-resident in Switzerland, is set to provide the funds heading into 2024 which will benefit men’s and women’s football as well as hurling and camogie.

The 42 understands that Limerick GAA, who McManus has been a long-time primary sponsor, have already received the unexpected financial boost.

As first reported by the Irish Daily Mail’s Philip Lanigan, the money will be “a donation from the JP McManus Charitable Foundation”.

This latest injection of cash to GAA coffers comes five years after McManus donated €100,000 to each county board in the country back in 2018.

Croke Park officials thanked the McManus family in a short statement on Thursday evening.

“The GAA would like to acknowledge and thank JP McManus, his wife Noreen, and their children for their incredible generosity on the news today that they are donating €1m to all 32 counties for distribution to clubs across the Gaelic Games family,” the statement read.

GAA President Larry McCarthy and Director General Tom Ryan added: “We would like to place on record our sincere gratitude to JP McManus and his family for yet another remarkable gesture of support.

“Clubs across the island benefitted greatly from the generosity of JP and his family in 2018, and we know that the funds were put to very good use at the time.

“His support of the GAA at many levels is well documented and our units will once again rejoice in the generosity of the McManus family and use the funds to assist in their hugely important work at the heart of communities.”

LGFA President Mícheál Naughton also added his thanks.

“We wish to put on the record, as an Association, our sincere thanks to JP McManus, Noreen, and family for this incredible gesture.”
