There was quite an embarrassing shootout moment in the German Cup final yesterday

Joshua Kimmich tried to be a little too clever when taking his penalty for Bayern Munich.

JOSHUA KIMMICH HAS had a storming first season with Bayern Munich and is rightly considered to be one of the finest young players in Europe.

The 21-year-old signed for the Bavarian giants last year from Stuttgart and made 15 Bundesliga starts under Pep Guardiola as the side claimed yet another league title.

He was handed another start for Saturday’s German Cup final as Bayern took on Borussia Dortmund but although it proved another successful outing for his side, Kimmich was involved in a pretty embarrassing moment during the penalty shootout.

With Bayern in control after Sven Bender and Sokratis Papastathopoulos had missed their kicks, Kimmich stepped up and tried to be clever.

He stuttered on his run-up, looking to make Dortmund keeper Roman Burki commit before rolling to to the net.

But he didn’t move and Kimmich put the ball straight at him.

Luckily for the youngster, team-mates Thomas Muller and Douglas Costa were successful from the spot and Bayern got the job done in the end.
