The player once dubbed the 'next Steven Gerrard' is leaving Liverpool

The 19-year-old made just five appearances for the Reds’ first team.

RANGERS HAVE CONFIRMED the signing of Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old was widely tipped to becomes the ‘next Steven Gerrard’ at Anfield, but played just five matches for the Reds’ first team and has agreed a four-year deal at Ibrox.

The England U19 international will boost the Rangers squad as they prepare for a first season back in the Scottish Premiership since 2012.

“I am made up to be here, it is a great club with a lot of history, you look at the likes of Rangers’ teams and players over the years and I am really looking forward to getting started,” he told the club’s official website.

I chose Rangers because of the history it has got, it is a massive club and I don’t think people realise down south how big a club it really is.

“I think I have always known and so have my family and it is just a great opportunity to carry on learning my trade.”

The news on the back of another young player, Irish defender Daniel Cleary, announcing his Anfield departure.
