Jonny Sexton shows off new Racing Metro gear but misses Wilkinson clash

The Parisian side face Heineken Cup champions Toulon this weekend but the Irish outhalf is not expected to feature.

JONNY SEXTON’S RACING Metro side will take on the Heineken Cup champions, Toulon, this weekend but the match comes two weeks too soon for the outhalf following summer exploits with the Lions.

Sexton is in preseason training with the Top 14 club and is not expected to make his debut until Racing take on Brive on 17 August.

His new side will line up against a Toulon team brimming with talent. Bryan Habana, the Springbok flyer signed from Stormers, made his first start for Toulon against Mayol at the weekend.

Sexton’s Lions teammates Dan Lydiate and Jamie Roberts are also settling into their new life in Paris. The Welsh pair travelled to France in May to pose for photos in the team’s jersey but, as he was involved in Amlin Cup and Pro12 action, Sexton missed the window of opportunity.

He made up for lost time, however, when he took a break from French lessons to visit the club’s headquarters in the western suburbs of Paris. Click here to check out how he got on.

Sexton’s younger brother, Jerry, has signed a one-year academy contract with Auch in the French Pro D2.
