Struggling Chicago Cubs pitcher finds an ingenious way around his throwing 'yips'

We can guarantee you’ve never seen anything like this before.

FOR ANYONE WHO doesn’t follow the ins and outs of baseball, Jon Lester is a pitcher who is costing the Chicago Cubs an awful lot of money.

$155 million over six years, to be precise.

That wouldn’t be so bad if he could complete one of the most simple tasks expected of a pitcher — the throw to first base.

Lester’s struggles have been highlighted in the US media but on Sunday, he proved that he can do it with a brilliantly ingenious play.

As Lester tried to throw to first against the San Diego Padres, he realised that the ball was stuck in his glove.

No hassle. He simply whipped the entire glove off and tossed it to first base for the out.

Yes, it’s legal.

That’s one way to beat the yips.
