CHELSEA LEGEND JOHN Terry has joined Aston Villa, it has been confirmed.

There had been much speculation regarding the destination of the 36-year-old defender after his spell at Chelsea — the club he joined as a youngster — ended at the conclusion of the 2016-17 campaign.

A number of Championship sides were believed to be interested in signing Terry, but it is Villa who have won the race for his signature.

Terry, who made 713 appearances for Chelsea following his debut in 1998, expressed delight after completing the move.

“It’s a club I have admired from afar for many years — there are fantastic facilities at Bodymoor Heath, Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there’s a good group of players here, with an experienced and successful manager in Steve Bruce,” he told the club’s official website.

“I can’t wait to get started now and look to help the squad achieve something special this season.”
