JOHN MULLANE LOVES his county, and he sure loves his hurling.
The former Waterford star was perched in the RTÉ radio commentary box alongside Pauric Lodge yesterday and he was, quite simply, on fire.
Mullane kicked it off by hailing a brilliant, early sideline cut from Tipp’s John ‘Bubbles’ O’Dwyer.
The man wouldn’t look out of place in the US Masters!”
After Shane Kingston’s second half goal for Cork, Mullane exclaimed: “I felt coming into the ground that Cork were going to come with a performance, and a performance they’re bringing to the table! What a game, Pauric, what a game!”
When Michael Cahalane came off the bench to score Cork’s match-clinching goal, Mullane roared: “Here we go, Pauric! Kieran Kingston and Diarmuid O’Sullivan are gone absolutely bananas down on the sideline!”
Mullane was suitably impressed by the Rebels to declare them very definite All-Ireland contenders.
“Cork are officially All-Ireland contenders after that performance today, what a game of hurling!”
