OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALLIST John Joe Nevin will officially announce his decision to turn professional next week.
Nevin, 24, has called a media conference for Tuesday where he is expected to confirm details of his signing with Philadelphia promotion GreenBlood Boxing.
The Mullingar bantamweight has been linked with a pro move since his success at London 2012 and skipped the World Championships, currently taking place in Kazakhstan, to finalise negotiations.
“I’m excited to be going on a new journey in the pro ranks. I became world number one as an amateur and now my goal is to become number one in the professional,” Nevin said.
