In a recent interview, the American businessman said that after Arsenal triggered a buy-out clause with their £40million and one pound offer in the summer, the Anfield club took the position that the club “weren’t going to sell”.
He expressed relief that the decision ultimately worked out well for both parties, adding that contracts “don’t seem to mean a lot in world football”.

No way!
Exactly! Think it was 3 days ago this was news!
Same thing happened to Liverpool with the Ukrainian in January. Met the release clause but the owner refused to sell.
As Henry said, contracts don’t mean anything, if a club doesn’t want to sell, nothing much the player can do.
Maybe i’m wrong on this, but couldn’t Suarez now sue for danages for breach of contract or to have his contract cancelled
Why would he want to ?
He would fail on a technicality…. Nobody knows what danage means.
How did arsenal know the clause was 40million?sounds like an agent colluded with them
If Liverpool wouldn’t sell was this clause null and void then? Did arsenal actually talk to Suarez or were they rebuff by Liverpool?
