CLARE HAVE SUFFERED a major injury setback ahead of their Allianz League final against Waterford after John Conlon was ruled out of Sunday’s game.
The 27-year-old will be sidelined for the next few weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the semi-final victory over Kilkenny.
Clare People are reporting that the forward is now also in a race to be fit for the Munster championship semi-final against the Déise on 5 June.
It’s a big blow for Davy Fitzgerald with Conlon playing a central role to Clare’s journey to the final, scoring goals against Limerick, Tipperary and Kilkenny.
The Banner County recorded five wins from five outings in Division 1B en-route to promotion and then defeated Tipperary and Kilkenny in the quarter and semi-final respectively.
Clare are seeking to win their first league title since 1978 in Thurles.

Now he is a Huge Loss was having a Mighty Season. Outstanding in the Air
I just wonder is Davy playing mind games again we will wait and see Sunday at 3.30 if he is playing
I don’t think Davy wants to show his full hand when they have to play Deice again in a few weeks !
I don’t go along with that theory Fred. The League is a National title which Clare have not won since 1978 so of course they will go all out to win on Sunday. If they were to adopt the attitude that you have suggested then they would have not tried so hard to beat Tipp in the quarter finals and Kilkenny in the semis.
Big loss to Clare- massive ball-winning ability and is always worth a few scores.
