'He has to suffer the consequences of his actions' - John Barnes on Suarez

The former Liverpool midfielder feels the Uruguayan may struggle to find another top-level club if he was moved on.

FORMER LIVERPOOL MIDFIELDER John Barnes has slammed Luis Suarez for sinking his teeth into the arm of Chelseaโ€™s Branislav Ivanovic but feels talk of moving the striker on is โ€œridiculousโ€.

Suarez took offence to some touch-tight marking by the Serbian in the Chelsea box and was caught on camera biting his opponent.

Barnes, who played 314 times for the Reds, told BBC Radio Five: โ€œHe has to suffer the consequences of his actions โ€“ thatโ€™s all he has to do.

โ€œIโ€™ve heard talk about him not playing for Liverpool again, which I think is ridiculous. Iโ€™ve heard talk about him bringing the good name of Liverpool down, which is also ridiculous โ€“ heโ€™s brought his own good name down.โ€

The former England international posed the reasonable argument of what major clubs would step forward and fight it out for the Uruguayanโ€™s signature following his latest indiscretion. Suarez has previous when it comes to biting and received a lengthy ban for laying his molars into Otman Bakkal of PSV Eindhoven when he was at Ajax. Barnes said:

Whoever signs him, itโ€™s going to reflect badly that they sign a player who Liverpool deem from a moral perspective not good enough. So Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelonaโ€ฆ they can sign him? But we canโ€™t have him? If youโ€™re questioning his moral character, what youโ€™re actually saying is that if he canโ€™t play for Liverpool he canโ€™t play for anyone, which is ridiculous.โ€

Barnes added, โ€œThe reflection on Liverpool is their response to the actions and their response is right. The response from (managing director) Ian Ayre and the club is โ€˜itโ€™s completely unacceptable and we will not accept itโ€™.โ€

โ€œThe FA should act first and Liverpool will then see what punishment is meted out and then come up with their own conclusions, because they could ban him for five or seven games and then he gets another 10-game ban for the FA rather than the FA banning him or doing whatever they have to do first,โ€ he said.

โ€œThey should see what the FA do and then respond after.โ€

McAteer never fails to have a go at Kerr any chance he gets. Strange after so many years. He made his disrespect for Kerrโ€™s suitability for the job clear in his book. Maybe thatโ€™s the way he acted towards Kerr from day 1.

Hopefully there is just as big a turnout for this as there was for the Liam Miller tribute. Sean didnโ€™t play Premier League football so wonโ€™t have earned the millions that footballers do. He also needs on going care. All in all the Cox family which be much more in need of the money than the Miller family.
