THE FIGHT DIDN’T go ahead last night at the 3Arena but Joe Duffy still plans to take on Dustin Poirier as soon as he enters the octagon again.
Duffy and Poirier were scheduled to square off in the headliner at UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin, until Duffy was withdrawn from the bout by the UFC on medical grounds due to sustaining a concussion during a sparring session seven days before the event.

It’s understood that both camps are hoping to fix the fight for UFC 195 in Las Vegas on 2 January instead, although Duffy must first receive medical clearance.
In a video message posted via the UFC on Twitter, Duffy said: “Firstly, I’d like to thank all the fans for their constant support. I came here to fight and unfortunately due to medical reasons it was taken out of my hands. I’ll be back ASAP and I’m looking forward to getting that fight back on with Dustin.”
The Donegal native added: “I want to thank the UFC for their constant support and obviously for looking after the fighters’ welfare.”
Poirier also remains eager to face the Irish lightweight. He said: “I prepared for Duffy and we didn’t get to do it this time but hopefully we can get this thing rescheduled for 2 January.”
