Even when he's answering questions on food poisoning, Miguel Angel Jimenez is a legend

Spaniard shot two-over par and is eight shots off the early pace.

CIGAR SMOKING LEGEND Miguel Angel Jimenez is hoping to make history this week by winning the same tournament three years in a row.

“The Mechanic” effectively owns the Hong Kong Open where he is bidding for a record fifth win in the tournament.

But he had a bad opening round of two-over-par on Thursday after he was hit by a bout of food poisoning.

It’s no secret that Jimenez appreciates the finer things in life so it’s no surprise that he couldn’t quite pin down the source of the problem.

Maybe it was the seafood, maybe it was the meatballs, but I had no chance at all today.

“It’s a pity and wasn’t the best start but I tried to do my best. I’m a professional and I came here to play even though my body was telling me not to,” he added.

Jyoti Randhawa is the early clubhouse leader after an opening round of six-under-par 64.
