Jim McGuinness steps down as Donegal manager

The 41-year-old won an All-Ireland and three Ulster titles.

DONEGAL MANAGER JIM McGuinness has stepped down from the role tonight.

The county board tweeted a statement to confirm the news at 11.37 pm on Friday night and to thank McGuinness for his “massive contribution” to the county over the past five years.

McGuinness took over as manager of the county’s senior footballers after guiding the under-21s, captained by Michael Murphy, to an All-Ireland final in 2010.

“During this term,” says the statement, “he has brought unprecedented success to our county and has made every Donegal person across the globe very proud of their county and their players.”
