JIM GAVIN HAS been named Philips Sports Manager of the Year after leading the Dublin footballers to a brilliant treble in his first season.
The Dubs boss was honoured this afternoon at a special lunch in the Shelbourne Hotel.
Gavin replaced Pat Gilroy in October 2012 and steered the Dubs to their first Division 1 league title in 20 years.
Dublin followed that up with their eighth Leinster title in nine seasons and completed a glorious summer by beating Mayo in the All-Ireland final, bringing Sam back to the capital for the second time in three years.

Gavin was selected from Philips’ monthly award winners which also included Clare’s All-Ireland winning hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald and Monaghan football boss Malachy O’Rourke, the Irish women’s Grand Slam winning head coach Philip Doyle and League of Ireland duo Liam Buckley and Ian Baraclough.
