Jermaine Pennant charged with drink-driving

The Stoke City winger will appear in court on 9 May to face charges of driving while drunk, legally disqualified and without insurance.

FORMER ENGLAND U-21 international Jermaine Pennant will appear in Trafford Magistrates Court on 9 May to answer charges relating to a car accident on the evening of Sunday 29 April.

The 29-year-old, currently with Premier League outfit Stoke City, was questioned by police following a collision between his BMW and an Audi in Sale, an outer borough of Manchester.

The winger was susequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Pennant is no stranger to legal reprimands, having – among numerous other indiscretions – twice received lengthy bans from driving.
