Toronto FC themselves, on the hunt for season ticket sales, have released the below teaser clip on YouTube promising a “bloody big deal’ to be announced on Monday. The Sun say Defoe will be the man feted for the cameras, but Michael Bradley is another man apparently in the offing.
What the Sun do not know is whether Defoe will move in the January window or wait until after the World Cup.
However with the England striker having signed a new three-year contact with Spurs in 2012 – and Toronto general manager Tim Bezbatchenko insisting he wants his new signings players settled in before the start of the season - any transfer announcement would be likely to take immediate effect.
The Canadian’s have reportedly outlined a $150,000 (€110,000) per week contract for the striker who will be 32 before the end of the 2014 MLS season.
