The hip-hop mogul has received his official clearance from the NBA Players’ Association, spokesmen for the union and for Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports told the Associated Press yesterday.
One of the top names in basketball, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, is expected to become the company’s first major signing.
But Jay-Z still has a few more hoops to jump through before he can start to build a star-studded roster himself. He still owns a minor share in the Brooklyn Nets and under NBA rules, team owners cannot represent players.

Roc Nation Sports have already signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, and Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins.
