JASON DAY HAS revealed he considered quitting golf ahead of the 2011 Masters.
The 28-year-old Australian vaulted himself to the top of the world rankings this weekend by winning the WGC-Dell Match Play, his second consecutive victory.
Day admitted he almost walked away from the sport five years prior, but was persuaded to continue by his team amid a struggle for form ahead of his first visit to Augusta National.

“I felt like quitting the game before that week. I was having the worst time on the golf course,” he said in an interview on Golf Channel.
“I was going to quit the game, then my team talked me into playing.
“I was going to not play that week and take time off.”
Day ended the 2011 Masters joint-second with Adam Scott, two shots adrift of winner Charl Schwartzel.
The 28-year-old has won six out of his last 13 events and is being tipped to challenge at Augusta National in April, but is expected to face stiff competition from Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.
