Jamie Heaslip confirmed as new Leinster captain

The number eight will be supported by vice captains Sean O’Brien and Rob Kearney.

EX-IRELAND CAPTAIN Jamie Heaslip has today been confirmed as Leinster skipper for the coming season.

The number eight has no  shortage of experience in leading out his native province, but will take over officially from Leo Cullen who retired at the end of last season to become forwards coach.

Along with Heaslip, head coach Matt O’Connor has named his fellow Ireland internationals Rob Kearney and Sean O’Brien as vice captains in the side.

The news comes as Leinster took to Tallaght to introduce their new coaching ticket with Cullen and Marco Caputo joining O’Connor and Richie Murphy after the departure of Jono Gibbes to Clermont and Greg Feek to a full-time role in the international setup.
