DERBY COUNTY HAVE won the race to secure the signature of James Wilson after Jose Mourinho gave the striker permission to leave Man United for the season.
The 20-year-old will move to the Championship club on a season-long loan and will link-up with his new team-mates in the coming days.
Wilson impressed during a stint with Brighton last season but his chances of securing first-team football at Old Trafford were dented with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The England U20 international featured in United’s first pre-season outing but the writing was on the wall when he wasn’t given a squad number for the 2016/17 campaign.

His arrival at the iPro Stadium will boost Derby’s promotion push, although the Rams have won just one of their first four league games.
“We’re delighted to have agreed to bring James Wilson on a season-long loan,” Nigel Pearson said.
“I hope that this loan deal will prove to be mutually beneficial for all parties and I would like to place on record our thanks to Manchester United for allowing James to join us. He is an energetic player who will add to our existing attacking options.”
Wilson, who scored five goals in the second tier of English football last term, has four years remaining on his contract at Man United and becomes the latest young player to leave this summer.
Adnan Januzaj (loan), Paddy McNair, Donald Love (both permanent to Sunderland) and Nick Powell (Wigan) have been let go by United.
