James McClean backs the Keane and O'Neill dream team

The Wigan player believes having the former Manchester United captain in the set-up would be “great”.

IRELAND WINGER JAMES McClean has given his backing to the prospective appointment of Roy Keane as the side’s assistant manager.

After news emerged last night that the appointments of O’Neill as manager and Keane as his number two were close to being confirmed, McClean tweeted: “obviously everyone has their own opinion, i think player that was as good as roy keane to be in the ireland set up would be great.”

McClean is also likely to be pleased with the seemingly imminent appointment of Martin O’Neill.

The 61-year-old handed his fellow Irishman a first-team debut at Sunderland, with the winger subsequently enjoying the best form of his career under the veteran coach’s management.
