James McCarthy scores first Everton goal as Toffees beat Hull

Steve Bruce will be exasperated with his side’s form going into the FA Cup final.

IRELAND MIDFIELDER JAMES MCCARTHY blasted Everton into a 1-0 lead over Hull City at the KC Stadium.

Romelu Lukaku made it 2-0 for the visitors after 46 minutes after he was set up by Leon Osman.

The former Wigan man was teed up by Stephen Naismith and unleashed a powerful shot from 12 yards out. Tigers goalkeeper Allan McGregor got his hand to the shot but could not keep it out.

The Toffees have missed out on the Champions League places but are guaranteed fifth spot. McCarthy has played 33 games for Everton since his transfer window signing at the start of the season. This afternoon’s goal for his first for the club. He found the net three times with 38 league games for Wigan last season.
