Injury rules Gallagher out of main event in Dublin as SBG team-mate steps up

Wexford native Brian Moore will face undefeated American AJ McKee in the 3 Arena next month.

STRABANE NATIVE JAMES Gallagher has been forced to withdraw from the main event of Bellator 187 through injury.

The SBG fighter was set to defend his unbeaten record (7-0) against Jeremiah Labiano as the headline event in the 3 Arena, Dublin on 10 November.

But ‘The Strabanimal’ has sustained a knee injury in training, and is unable to compete.

“Absolutely heartbroken to have to pull out from my fight Nov 10th due to a knee injury,” the 20-year-old wrote on his Instagram account last night.

“I’ve tore the LCL and PCL. I’m going to let it heal up and recover 100% and I’ll be back stronger than ever! Hopefully we can get the “jimmy show” back in the new year!”

Undefeated American AJ McKee (9-0), a rival of Gallagher, will step into the octagon in his place and he’ll meet Wexford native and SBG’s Brian Moore (10-5).

Back in April, Moore picked up the most significant win of his career at Bellator 177. A second-round TKO saw him to victory over Czech featherweight Michal Horejsi (5-3) in Budapest.
