EVEN THE MOST casual rugby fan knew Sonny Bill Williams deserved to become the first All Black to receive a red card in 50 years last weekend for his hit on Anthony Watson.
One man, however, appeared to disagree.
That man was Jaco Peyper, the South African referee — who was acting as touch judge in the second Test of the Lions tour — did everything in his power to get the referee to downgrade it to a yellow card.
Of course, Peyper is in the bad books with Irish fans ever since he let Malakai Fekitoa away with just a yellow card for attempting to decapitate Simon Zebo in Dublin back in December.
