BERNARD JACKMAN IS set to become head coach at Top 14 club Grenoble.

The former Leinster and Ireland hooker, who is currently the French side’s defence and collision coach, has agreed a new role for the 2014/2015 season.

Fabrice Landreau will remain on as Grenoble’s Director of Sport with Jackman, 37, working alongside him.

“I love coaching and I want to be a successful head coach,” the Carlow native told The Rugby Show on RTÉ today.

I’ve got the role. Now I’ve got to make sure I’m successful and to be successful I’ve got to make sure that we work well as a coaching staff.

“We’ve got to bring the players into it and make sure they’re very comfortable with what we’re trying to bring.

“I’m excited.”

Jackman first joined Grenoble in 2011 and was part of the backroom team which helped them win the second-tier Pro D2 and promotion back to the Top 14.

Grenoble are currently seventh in the table with seven wins from 13 games so far this season.
