Lehane the man as UCC cruise into Fitzgibbon quarter-finals

Cork’s senior star was in menacing form against IT Carlow this evening.

CORK’S CONOR LEHANE ran the show as champions UCC booked their place in the Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable win against IT Carlow.

For the hosts, it will be a win-or-bust shootout against Waterford IT in their final Group A game next Tuesday.

Despite Lehane’s menacing form Carlow stayed in touch and only trailed by four at the break, 0-13 to 0-9.

UCC pushed that lead out to eight and when Lehane grabbed the game’s only goal midway through the second half, they kicked on for their 13-point win.
