For the hosts, it will be a win-or-bust shootout against Waterford IT in their final Group A game next Tuesday.
Despite Lehane’s menacing form Carlow stayed in touch and only trailed by four at the break, 0-13 to 0-9.
UCC pushed that lead out to eight and when Lehane grabbed the game’s only goal midway through the second half, they kicked on for their 13-point win.
