ASTON VILLA INSIST that the photograph depicting winger Stuart Downing holding a Liverpool scarf with Anfield striker Andy Carroll is a fake.
The image has been doing the rounds online over the past 24 hours. But a Villa Park official insists it’s not genuine.
Spokesman Brian Doogan told the Birmingham Mail: “I’ve seen the picture and I spoke to [Stuart Downing], he had heard about it, someone else had told him.
“He said it was absolutely not real, he did not stand there with a Liverpool scarf. It looks fake and the point is Stewart has confirmed that’s the case.”
