Barry Geraghty claims first Irish Grand National on Shutthefrontdoor

THE JONJO O’NEILL-trained Shtthefrontdoor won the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse today.

The 8-1 favourite held off the challenge of Golden Wonder and Saoirse Dun to see Barry Geraghty at last get his hands on the famous prize.

Geraghty — in the colours of JP McManus — waited until the last fence to make his move and overtake Golden Wonder.

“I thought I was in trouble two from home but it came good,” he said afterwards. “I live just a mile down the road and this means a an awful lot to me.”
