Irish athlete reportedly involved in anti-doping violation

An Irish athlete is set to appear before an Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel after an adverse finding in a test, taken in December.

AN IRISH ATHLETE has been involved in an alleged anti-doping violation, following an adverse finding in a test taken in December.

While an individual has been named in certain Irish publications on Saturday morning, Athletics Ireland told The Score that they could not get into any specific details of the case while an investigation is ongoing.

The case will now be the subject of a hearing before the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel and this is expected to take place next week.

Under anti-doping guidelines, the athlete in question can choose to appear before a disciplinary panel to explain the findings or have a B sample tested.

Reports suggest that the athlete in question has chosen the former option.
