IN THE VERY early hours of this morning, Waterford athlete Thomas Barr won his 400m hurdles semi-final at the Olympics in Rio.
It’s already being called “one of the greatest Irish performances” by the pundits.
And his reaction of disbelief and delight when he crossed the line was brilliant
Look at him there
People watching back home were LOVING the celebration
The “wonderful smile” lit up Rio
His time was a new Irish record for the 400m hurdles – and you’d know by the smile on him
Good man Thomas – let’s hope we’ll be seeing the beaming smile return in Thursday’s final
Doing Waterford and Ireland proud <3

It a select club that have broken the tape first in an Olympic race. Some performance! Great stuff!
Havent seen anyone break the tape yet my self!
Youd be naive not to ask that question
What colour medal did he win?
Same colour as your one
What sort of medal do you think you should get for your hysterical gag?
At least he doesn’t live his life vicariously through an English soccer club
What are his prospects for a medal tonight ?
Times place him third. But you’d expect the big countries to run faster. Who knows. He has the fourth lane.
