Team Ireland face Russia as a warm-up for the Olympics

IRISH BOXING FANS will have one last chance to catch a glimpse of Ireland’s Olympic hopefuls tomorrow evening.

Team Ireland will host an international test match against their Russian equivalents in the National Stadium with the first fight at 7.30pm.

The line-up for the night contains a wide array of talent including six of the Olympians who will be jetting off to Rio later in the summer.

The squad in full is as follows:

  • Steven Donnelly

  • Joe Ward
  • Jeffrey Kavanagh
  • Thomas Carthy

Tickets for the event are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for children. Doors open at 6.30pm with tickets available at the door.

The Irish team depart for Rio on the 19 July with a record eight boxers, including defending gold medallist Katie Taylor, having qualified to date.
