New Jersey date with US set for Ireland's summer schedule

Ireland will clock up the air miles this summer as they travel to face the USA before a two Test tour of Japan.

IRELAND’S RUGBY PLAYERS will return to the United States of America this summer, this time to face the host nation as part of their summer tour.

The IRFU had already lined up a two Test tour of Japan for the senior men’s team on 17 and 24 June, but have also now added a clash with the US on 10 June in Harrison, New Jersey.

Following on from the unforgettable meeting with the All Blacks in Soldier Field in November, the IRFU have again teamed up with event planners TLA. The return to America will bring Ireland to the home of the New York Red Bulls, an arena which has already staged a Premiership rugby match, when Saracens defeated London Irish in March.

With a taxing travel schedule looming, head coach Joe Schmidt should have plenty of opportunity to experiment this summer as it coincides with the Lions tour to New Zealand.
