Ireland U20s beat Australia at Junior World Cup

Mike Ruddock’s team secured a hugely impressive win in France today.

IRELAND U20s SECURED a hugely impressive 19-15 victory over Australia at the Junior World Cup in France today.

A first-half try by Rory Scholes, in addition to a conversion and a penalty by Tom Daly, put Mike Ruddock’s side firmly in command in their first Pool B game in the tournament.

However, the Irish were pegged back, as an Ulupano Seuteni penalty and a Tom Staniforth try left the score at 10-8 at half-time.

Daly kicked a further two penalties in the second half, before Alex Northam’s converted try with ten minutes remaining ensured a tense finish.

However, the Irish kept their composure, and another Daly penalty, in addition to some gallant defending, helped them secure a notable win.
