Christie and McGoldrick named in experimental Ireland team to face USA

Several changes have been made to the team that were beaten by Scotland on Friday.

CTYRUS CHRISTIE AND David McGoldrick have been confirmed to start as part of an experimental Ireland team to face USA at the Aviva Stadium tonight.

Martin O’Neill suggested the duo would play at yesterday’s press conference, and the news was confirmed this evening, with several other changes made from the team’s 1-0 defeat to Scotland on Friday.

Those given a chance to impress also include Shay Given, Ciaran Clark and Anthony Stokes, while David Meyler captains the side.

None of the players who started the Scotland match feature, but Stephen Quinn and Robbie Brady, who appeared as substitutes during the game, get the nod tonight.

Ireland team — Given; Christie, Pearce, Clark, Brady; Pilkington, Quinn, Meyler (c), Stokes; McGoldrick, Murphy.

Meanwhile, the US team has also been confirmed…

USA team – Hamid; F. Johnson, Cameron, Besler, Chandler; Beckerman; Bedoya, Diskerud, Morales; Wondolowski, Altidore.
