IRELAND’S HOPES OF winning a place at the 2015 Cricket World Cup were given a boost on Monday, after the International Cricket Council announced it will review the decision to exclude associate members.
The Irish had initially been left out in the cold by the ICC’s decision to limit the next World Cup to its 10 full-member nations.
April’s decision provoked widespread controversy and Sharad Pawar, president of the ICC, has now called for a review with the body’s Chief Executives’ Committee with a view to establishing a qualification process.
Ireland have taken part in the last two Cricket World Cups, famously beating Pakistan in 2007 before topping that achievement with a win over England earlier this year.
