23 YEARS AGO today, Packie Bonner and David O’Leary ensured themselves a lifetime of back-slaps and warm dinners when they came up with the goods at Italia 90.

The 5-4 penalty shoot-out win, on 25 June 1990, came at the end of a 0-0 draw that was effectively Gheorghe Hagi vs. Bonner for 120 minutes with a few dozen back passes thrown in for good measure.
