IRELAND FACE A difficult end to their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, after the dates, times and venues of the fixtures were confirmed this afternoon, following this morning’s draw.
The Irish team have the unenviable task of playing Germany at home, before finishing with a trip to Poland.
They begin their campaign away to Georgia on 7 September, before two games in October at home to Gibraltar on the 11th and away to Germany on the 14th.

They then finish 2014 with a visit to Scotland on 14 November.
Martin O’Neill’s side then take on Poland at home in their first game of 2015 on 29 March, before hosting the return tie with Scotland on 13 June.
The side then have two more games in September — away against Gibraltar on the 4th, while facing Georgia three days later at the Aviva, before their aforementioned difficult run-in to finish on 8 and 11 October.
Coincidentally, the match away to Poland is on the same day as Ireland play France in the Rugby World Cup, while the Georgia away game clashes with the All-Ireland SHC final.
Speaking in reaction to today’s draw, O’Neill suggested that at least one automatic qualifying spot was there for the taking.
“Let’s go positively into the group, and let’s go for it. It looks like a group, Germany apart, where teams might take points off each other,” he said.
