Martin O'Neill's Ireland to face Oman in Dublin this September

The Paul Le Guen-coached side are currently ranked 82nd in the world.

THE FAI HAVE confirmed that Martin O’Neill’s Ireland will face Oman in an international friendly match at the Aviva on the 3rd of September.

Currently sitting 82nd in FIFA’s official world rankings, Oman are coached by ex-Rangers and PSG manager Paul Le Guen. Among their playing ranks is Wigan Athletic ‘keeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Ireland have met Oman in a friendly before, with Robbie Brady, Alex Pearce, Shane Long and Kevin Doyle all scoring in a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage in September 2012. Among the Arab state’s most recent results are 0-0 draws with Finland and Jordan, as well as a 3-1 victory over Singapore.

The FAI say this fixture will provide O’Neill and his assistant, Roy Keane, with “a further opportunity to run the rule over his squad as they set out on their EURO 2016 qualification campaign.”

Ireland play Gibraltar on the 11th of October, while 2015 brings Scotland, Poland and England to Dublin. The FAI are offering 2014/15 Season Tickets to provide access to all of the above fixtures, starting at €138 for adults.
