Managerless Ireland schedule Aviva friendly with Latvia

The last home game of the year will be played on 15 November, it has been confirmed this afternoon.

THE FAI HAS announced that Ireland will face Latvia in an international friendly in Dublin next month.

The Boys in Green ended the 2014 World Cup qualifiers with a win against Kazakhstan but could only finish fourth behind Germany, Sweden and Austria.

A visit to Poznan to take on Poland has been pencilled in for 19 November and now its has been confirmed that Ireland will play their last home game of 2013 at the Aviva Stadium four days before that trip on Friday, 15 November.

Latvia, 56 FIFA ranking places behind Ireland in 117th, were second last in a group which contained Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Slovakia, Lithuania and Liechtenstein in the recently-finished campaign.

Without a permanent manager since Giovanni Trapattoni left the position in September, Noel King was named caretaker boss for the matches against Germany and Kazakhstan.

While it has yet to be confirmed whether he will continue in that role, the FAI may possibly be hoping to announce a new man before the upcoming games in an effort to attract fans to Lansdowne Road on the night.

Tickets will be priced at €20 for adults, €10 for children and €50 for a family of two adults and two children.
