Ireland target Jake White rules himself out of the running

The World Cup-winning coach has turned down the opportunity to be interviewed by the IRFU.

JAKE WHITE HAS stated that he will not be taking the Ireland job as he is happy in his current role as Brumbies coach.

Reports last night suggested the South African had been interviewed by the IRFU along with fellow candidate Ewen McKenzie via video conference as the search is stepped up to find a successor for Declan Kidney.

However, in The Sydney Morning Herald, the 50-year-old has rebuffed such claims and insisted that he told Ireland officials that he is not interested.

“I’m not available [for the Ireland job], I’ve made it quite clear that I’ve got a Brumbies contract and I’m here with a job to do,” White said.

“I’m happy here, I’m coaching boys in Australia and I’m enjoying that.

“I’m really not in the market for every coaching job that pops up, I’m focusing on the Brumbies and making them better and in turn making Australian rugby better which is one of my briefs as a Super 15 coach in Australia.”
