Ireland's boxers were just too good for France last night

London Olympians Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan, John Joe Nevin and Adam Nolan were all in action in Cork.

IRELAND’S BOXERS SCORED a perfect 10 as they returned to international action against France last night.

With Katie Taylor missing through injury, four of her Olympic team-mates led the way as Ireland won all 10 bouts on the Elite International card at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork.

London bronze medallist Paddy Barnes set the tone for the evening with a second-round stoppage of Dylan Beccu while Michael Conlan, John Joe Nevin and Adam Nolan all scored comfortable points decisions.

David Oliver Joyce, Jason Quigley, Joe Ward, Jimmy Sweeney and Con Sheehan all won their respective bouts with the closest fight coming in the lightweight division where Sean McComb needed a countback following a 13-13 tie against Sopiane Oumiha.

Ireland will now look to complete a clean sweep when the sides meet for the second leg in Dublin’s National Stadium tomorrow afternoon (2pm)
