Remember the drama of Bangalore at the 2011 World Cup? Well, Phil Simmons and the Boys in Green will be out to cause another upset when they welcome the auld enemy to Dublin on 3 September. The game is set to pull in the biggest-ever crowd for a cricket match on these shores and it will also be the first match ever played at Ireland’s new one-day home in Malahide.
Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster.ie and CricketIreland.ie — but we want to give you them for free. Here’s how to win:
Before Ireland turn their focus to England, they take on the Netherlands in the World Cricket League on Sunday and Tuesday — two wins and Ireland qualify for the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia. All you have to do is predict the total number of runs Ireland will score in the two matches combined and post your answer in the comments section. That’s as easy as we can make it for you!
(To give you some guidance, Ireland scored a combined 368 runs in their last WCL matches against the United Arab Emirates.)
Closest answer wins and in the event of a tie, we’ll pull the winner from a hat.
Competition closes on Sunday, 7 July at 9am sharp. Only one entry per person/ Twitter account. In the event of a dispute regarding rules, conduct or the results of a competition the decision of Journal Media will be final.
The RSA Challenge between Ireland and England on Tuesday, September 3rd, will be the biggest cricket match ever to be played in Ireland.Over 10,000 will pack Ireland’s newest ODI venue ‘Fortress Malahide’ to witness the renewal of what is fast becoming one of world cricket’s fiercest rivalries.
