Ireland overcome Romania in second stage of Homeless World Cup

Following their opening 11-1 victory over Greece, Ireland have built on their excellent start to the event.

THE IRELAND HOMELESS World Cup team got their campaign in the second group stages of the competition off to a winning start, as they edged past Romania 6-5 today.

Following their opening 11-1 victory over Greece, Ireland built on their excellent start to the event in Chile by confirming their place in the second round of the competition following two further victories.

After losing 7-2 to Mexico, the Irish team beat Wales 3-2 and Sweden 11-3 to seal their place in the second group stages.

Having beaten the Romanians this afternoon, they are set to play again tomorrow, with their opponents yet to be confirmed.
