1. Ireland 5-0 Israel (1987)

A brace from Niall Quinn, as well as goals from Ian Harte, Andy Townsend and Keith O’Neill saw Ireland grab their best-ever away win in this 1998 World Cup qualifier.

A hat-trick from David Connolly and two from Tony Cascarino saw Ireland pick up another big win over Liechtenstein.

5. Ireland 5-0 Malta (1998)

Robbie Keane became Ireland’s youngest ever goalscorer at 18, notching two in this Euro 2000 qualifier, while Roy Keane, Niall Quinn and Gary Breen were also among the scorers.

Robbie Keane claimed a hat-trick, while Andy Reid and Kevin Doyle were also on target on this rare positive night during the Steve Staunton era.

7. Ireland 5-0 Northern Ireland (2011)

It didn’t exactly rain goals during Giovanni Trapattoni’s tenure as Ireland boss, however this Nations Cup match against the North was the exception that proves the rule. A brace from Robbie Keane, as well as goals from Stephen Ward, Simon Cox and a Craig Cathcart own goal saw Ireland earn a comfortable win.

8. Ireland 6-0 Cyprus (1980)

It was all too easy for Ireland in this 1982 World Cup qualifier during Eoin Hand’s reign. Two goals from Gerry Daly put Ireland in control, before further efforts from Tony Grealish, Michael Robinson, Frank Stapleton and Chris Hughton completed the rout.

The latest entry in this list, Robbie Keane scored a quick-fire hat-trick, before a James McClean brace coupled with a Wes Hoolahan strike and a Jordan Perez own goal made it 7-0.

10. Ireland 8-0 Malta (1983)

Ireland’s biggest-ever win came in this Euro 84 qualifier at Dalymount Park. Mark Lawrenson scored twice, as did Kevin Sheedy, while Liam Brady, Gerry Daly, Frank Stapleton and Kevin O’Callaghan were also on target.
