BACK-TO-BACK Cork camogie champions Inniscarra had their year brought to an end yesterday as they were knocked out of the Munster senior club championship.
It was Clare’s Inagh/Kilnamona who beat Rena Buckley’s club team in the semi-final clash, a game which came less than 24 hours after their county final win.
On Saturday afternoon, Inniscarra made it two Cork titles on the bounce as they beat Glen Rovers on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-7.
A county final on Saturday at 2.30pm, a Munster semi-final on Sunday at 1pm. Two huge matches, two days in-a-row. But that’s not all.
It’s actually been a case of four championship games in eight days for the Cork outfit.
On Saturday, 21 October, they won out the county quarter-final replay. 60 minutes couldn’t separate themselves and Douglas so extra-time ensued. A 1-14 to 0-14 win was enough to book their place in the last four.
That semi-final was played on Wednesday, where they faced a fierce battle with fellow Cork kingpins Milford — who have won three of the last five All-Ireland senior titles.

With Ashling Thompson among their stars, this one came right down to the wire. But Inniscarra got over the line in the dying minutes, a one-point win sealing their spot in the final. One last step to defend their title.
And that brought them to the county final on Saturday gone. A 2-13 to 1-10 victory over Glen Rovers made it two-in-a-row and paved the way to the Munster semi-final, to be decided less than a day later.
They were beaten on the day — 0-15 to 1-7 — but there’s been no shortage of praise for the players involved and their monstrous efforts.
“We are so proud of our girls, who’ve now played 4 games in 8 days, winning a county final. Ye are wonderful girls, with a never say die attitude,” the club wrote on Facebook afterwards.
Thanks to all for messages of support. Now it’s finally time to celebrate being Cork Senior Camogie Champs 2016 and 2017 🔵⚪️

There has also been criticism, with obvious concerns over player welfare raised.
