Fergus McFadden, Richardt Strauss and Heinke van der Merwe all required stitches for head wounds following Saturday’s 9-6 victory over Exeter, but the trio are expected to take a full part in training this week.
When asked about the knocks within the squad today by reporters after training, team manager Guy Easterby said: “I think the two who would be of most interest are Darce [Gordon Darcy] and Kearns [Robert Kearney] who nearly made last week and we’d be hopeful they’ll be available for selection this week.”
Two players who will certainly be available are Leo Cullen and Cian Healy who both came through respective comebacks from injury. Isaac Boss successfully negotiated the last half hour of Leinster ‘A’s opening round British & Irish Cup victory over Leeds Carnegie on Saturday night following his recent arm injury.
Easterby insists there won;t be wholesale changes for the game in Wales this weekend however.
“I’m not sure how many changes can be made,” he told TheScore. “We’ve obviously got a long injury list — certainly term injuries who aren’t available yet — so I don’t know about changes.”
