Indoor Championships: O'Rourke eases through 60m heat

The Cork athlete came second in her heat this morning, clocking a season’s best time in the process.

DERVAL O’ROURKE FINISHED second in her 60 metre hurdle heat to advance to the semi-final at the European Indoor Athletic Championships in Gothenburg.

After, a false start disrupted the beginning of the race, the Cork athlete finished strong in a time of 8.05 seconds, four hundredths of a second behind Turkey’s Nevin Yanit.

With the top four qualifying automatically, O’Rourke is comfortably through to this evening’s semi-final and will be confident of advancing further after a fast heat.

O’Rourke will compete in the semi-final after 5.20pm (Irish time) this afternoon.
