In pictures: home, sweet home for Darren Clarke

The British Open returned to Royal Portrush this afternoon with the Claret Jug. And he brought a present.

LOCAL HERO DARREN Clarke returned to his home club Royal Portrush this afternoon with the famous Claret Jug he won for the first time on Sunday.

And the Dungannon-born golfer presented his adopted club with the tournament’s gold medal.

“For me this is the best golf course in the world. I am very privileged to give Royal Portrush the gold medal,” said Clarke, according to the BBC.

The club say the medal will sit alongside that won by Fred Daly who won the Open in 1947.
