IRISH FOOTBALL MANAGER Roddy Collins has today issued a statement denying any connection to a Twitter account called ‘DaRealRoddy’.
The former Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers boss is ‘not happy at all’ about the profile on the popular social media website.
The account’s bio field states: “Howyas! Roddy Here. Winner of best dressed man in Ireland for the last 10 years. Ireland’s most succesful manager and football pundit. Plasterer.”
The location of the user is listed as: “Dublin, but you know yourself”, while a photograph of Collins taken during his time in charge of Carlisle is designated as the account’s main image.
But the Monday Night Soccer pundit has this afternoon moved to state that he is not responsible for the content on the page.
“Roddy Collins would like to clarify to members of the media that comments being tweeted on the Twitter.com social networking site under the name “@DaRealRoddy” are in no way linked or connected to him,” the statement reads.
“Roddy Collins did not set up this profile nor is he responsible for any of the tweets posted and has contacted Twitter.com to make this clear and to have the account cancelled.
“Tweets made on this account should not be publicly attributed to Mr Collins.”
A spokesperson for Collins, told TheScore this afternoon that, though he knows the account is merely a bit of fun, he has been in contact with Twitter HQ in California.
The issue came to a head when a number of radio broadcasters attributed quotes from the Twitter stream to the Dubliner.
He is understood to be in negotiations for a new job in management at the moment.
